The ex-situ vegetation conservation area known as the Lombok Botanical Garden is located within the Lemor/Petandakan protected forest area in Suela Village, Suela Subdistrict, less than 28 km north of Selong City, East Lombok, and covers an area of 130 hectares.
This area still consists of 89.2 ha of secondary forest, along with 42 ha of mixed vegetation and open areas (Kopang II), which are currently used by the East Lombok local government to cultivate several types of agricultural crops. Every botanical garden has its own unique characteristics that set it apart from others, and the Lombok Botanical Garden is no exception. It was developed under the theme “Conservation of the Vegetation of the Lesser Nusa Tenggara Islands,” as it is the first botanical garden in the Lesser Nusa Tenggara region and currently the only one projected to become a center for integrated community empowerment in the development of watersheds through synergistic collaboration among various stakeholders.
