The Global Geoparks Network (GGN) was founded in 2004 and became the partner of UNESCO when the UNESCO Global Geoparks programme was created in 2015. Every UNESCO Global Geopark is a member. The network holds a world conference every two years and organises the evaluators who carry out each geopark's revalidation.
Today there are more than 200 UNESCO Global Geoparks in around 50 countries. [VERIFY: current count]
